KAMISHIBAI of shadow picture

In June, 2025, “KAMISHIBAI—-picture-story show” is issued by the publisher “Papiés Coupés” in France. The papers are to be lit up from behind so that the laser-cut forms glow. By sliding in another paper from the side and overlaying it, the scene changes dramatically.
The theme was given by the publisher, “The Riding-hood and the Wolf”, and based on this “KAMISHIBAI” two types(accordion-fold and regular-bound) of the book are published.

Each scene consists of 2~3 sheets of paper. For example, these 3 images are from the first scene: Ms. Riding-hood receives a basket from her mother(left), the second paper slides in and the scenery outside the window emerges(center), remove the first paper then the girl is outside and about to enter the forest(right).
The book has 6 scenes altogether.

The image at left is the book, based on the KAMISHIBAI; rearranged and modified in accordion-fold style; the same format as the previous ones from Papiers Coupés.

left: the wolf in the forest; goes to the grandmother’s
center: Ms. Riding-hood visits her grandmother; there waits the wolf in disguise
right: The wolf is full and asleep; the huntsman finds them

In France, the KAMISHIBAI is performed with live music.
The books (accordion-fold/ regular-bound) are limited edition.
